Real life is an unmatched stage where anything can go awry and anything can go awesome without any prior notice, and so things that happen can go on a comic path too. A tale of a conman, an imposter played by the brilliant Jim Carrey who goes by the name of Steven Jay Russell, he who plunges into love with his prison cellmate Philip Morris, played by Ewan McGregor, It is an amazing story with a catchy tagline as “the conman who wouldn’t go straight”.

The directors chair are two this time, as of Glenn Ficarra and John Requa, both of whom have been in the past involves in number of brilliant projects as Bad Santa, Cats and Dogs and Bad News Bears . The double team creates a different aura for this movie, than ever seen before, they can make you rejoice, feel sad, loved and they have the power to make you smile.

Our director duo also takes up the pilot seat as the writers also, majestically raise the characters from the story and graciously take up the screen, creating a perfect setting up for the movie to a handsome persona. The plot gyrates beautifully along the protagonist and you feel him rising up as the story progresses.

The movie charges from the death bed of Russell revising the incidents of his life. He remembers himself as a dutiful cop, living happily with his wife, till he had a brutal accident that changed the path of his life.

After the accident, he had shifted to Miami, and lived an exotic luxurious life realizing he’s gay, and living with his gay partner. But soon he comprehends that this lifestyle is difficult to maintain, so he changes into a conman from a cop in his previous life. Soon, his activities are caught and he’s sent to prison.

That turns out to be a blessing in disguise, according to him as he meets the love of his life, Philip Morris his cellmate in prison. He doesn’t wants to be separated from his love, even when Philip is let out of the prison, and goes to various odd ways in the hope of reuniting with his gay lover. His tactics are amusingly funny, and leaves you a happy day in your heart. He goes to various lengths such as pretending to be a doctor and walking out of prison, plays a judge by stealing a badge and then orders up his own realise.

The role of Steven Jay Russell is played by Jim Carrey magically, without any inhibitions on the issue that the character is gay. Philip Morris is portrayed excellently by Ewan McGregor and that too quite wonderfully; he re-invents the character and adds various layers of qualities to the character, making him sizzle on the screen. He has a lot of experience having done some great work in; The Ghost Writer, Amelia, Angels and Demons and Funny People. No introduction is needed for Jim Carrey having done memorable performances in The Mask, Bruce Almighty, Me Myself and Irene.
