It might sound odd when you think about it, but with so many cross bred dogs pooping up – both intentional and unintentional – there’s really nothing incredible about a Yorkie Bichon mix dog cropping up over time. What this means for potential dog owners, is something completely different of course.

If you are planning to get a Yorkie Bichon as a pet but are not really sure whether you really need a dog like this, and more importantly unsure what the puppy would become when it has all grown up, then there’s only one thing to say that you are not the only one having this doubt. It is a well known fact that no one can really predict what a mixed breed dog would grow up to be like and this is surely true for all mixed or cross bred dogs.

Sometimes there is a chance that the dog could turn up just like their Bichon Frise mother/father or like their Yorkie father/mother. For a Yorkie Bichon mix it is not necessary that the parents have to be of a particular breed, i.e. unlike a Puggle dog it is not required that there must be a Bichon Frise mother and a Yorkie Father, or vice versa. It can a mix of either of them as long as the parents are pure bred.

And this is where it can sometimes become tricky when cross breeding dogs. Because no one dog breeder will necessarily have the entire lineage of a dog going back hundreds of years, it can be difficult to know for certain whether or not the ancestry of the parents themselves have been cross bred at any point in time. Sometimes genetic traits might hide themselves for a few generations, and might instead decide to manifest itself at this point when the dog breeders are going cross breeding the dogs.

The resulting dog may be a hodgepodge of characteristics or can be a sweet and cute dog. However this type of scenario is quite rare in good breeding programs, and in case you with to have a Yorkie Bichon mix as a pet you would surely be able to get a good Yorkie Bichon combination.

What would be the characteristics of this kind of a dog, never mind the features of such a dog? Well, unfortunately there is no way through which you can tell these beforehand, and most of the dog owners would just have to wait and see what their Yorkie Bichon Puppy grows up into; a predominantly Bichon mix or a predominantly Yorkie mix. Whatever be the case, one thing that you can be assured of is that you would be the proud owner of a dog that is very loyal to you and is also very cute and adorable, what else do you want for yourself?

However, you’ve heard so many horror stories about dogs and owners not properly matching together, and heartrending stories where the dogs are so cruelly abandoned that you do think twice about impulsively getting the yellow Lab puppy.

Since you do not have the intentions of getting a puppy so quickly into your life, a little bit of soul searching is what you can do about the Labrador breed of dogs. This needs to be done in order to ensure that you have a good idea regarding what to look for in a Lab puppy and what can be expected back from the puppy as it grows up into an adult dog.

The first and the foremost thing that you need to know is that most of the dogs have a long life expectancy and the Labrador breed is known to live for 12-13 years, and this figure is highly variable, there have been cases when the dog has been alive for 18-19 years. This of course may not be the norm, but the thing is that owning a dog is lifetime commitment and you just cannot back down when you feel like. You also need to understand that your dog is your responsibility and you cannot treat it carelessly or abandon it.

Taking that out of the way, there are various characteristics of your Lab puppy that you can take a look at. These characteristic can be very broadly classified, but the most common things that you would find out is that your yellow Lab puppy is highly intelligent. Labradors are those dogs that can be trained very easily and have a good temperament. This is one of the reasons why they are ideal mates for people with disabilities.

Families having young children can also look up to having a Labrador as they are very well natured. They may become sedentary if they are not exercised, taken for walks or are overfed, and this is the last thing that you would want to happen to your highly energetic and playful Labrador.

The value of a certain type of pet breeder seems to go up if the breeder breeds only a certain type of pet breed i.e. they specialize in breeding only a certain kind of pet. These specialists are of course the better breeders.

If you are currently looking for a pet, then a pet store is the easiest option for you, but it is necessary that you do a little bit of investigation of your intended pet’s background before proceeding further. What is the pet’s lineage; what kind of diseases can affect it; does it have any kind of genetic flaws; and most importantly where did it come from?

To gain a clearer picture of the situation and to help you make your decision it is advised that you should ask all these questions before buying a pet from a pet store. The last question, where does the pet you are going to own comes from, is the most important question as it can help you to identify a pet mills.

A pet mill is like a small factory where animals are churned out in large numbers without caring about their needs. Although they may not be ill-treated physically, it might happen in some cases, they are generally forced to live in very bad and unlivable conditions. That is why it is very important that you take time to investigate and ensure that your pet comes from a reputed and respectable breeder and not from a puppy mill which only cares about making money from the pets they sell.

Not all pet breeders are uncaring or selfish. Most of the pet breeders love their work and the pets that they have bred and provide the best care for their pets. These pets are given very humane and good conditions to live in.

If however, you want to look at getting a new pet straight from the pet breeders themselves, then this too is a possibility. If this is going to be the case, you can always ask to take a tour of their breeding facility, and find out as much information as you can about them.

In today’s modern age getting access to information is not at all difficult, and all you need is a little bit of hunting to get all the information you need to help you identify breeders who are well known for their breeding techniques and who provide the best care for their pets.

It’s a sad but true fact that there are more dogs than you can even imagine who are put down everyday, for “humane” reasons. It’s also true that there is more than that number of dogs who are either abandoned on purpose, or abandoned by unkindly fate. This applies to just about every type of dog that you can think about. Sometimes however, something like the many different Vizsla rescue groups can make a great difference on how these dogs fare.

Of course not every Vizsla is lucky enough to be rescued by such a rescue group, but sometimes miracles do happen, and even these dogs can get a second chance. However it is a fact that most of these groups do not have the funds to stay in business, so they need to look out for funds to stay in business apart from searching for stray dogs to help.

This really seems like a cruel fate, but this is the way of the world, and most of these groups are used to these little quirks of fate. If you have a Vizsla then you know just how fiercely loyal these dogs can be and how attached they are to their owners. If you think of this and feel a tugging of your heart for all those abandoned Vizslas that different Vizsla rescue groups had to rescue over the course of the last few months alone, you can do something about it.

As mentioned above, Vizsla rescue groups will almost always be in need of assistance, be it monetary or otherwise. If you feel that you can help then do so, just take a look at your well adjusted Vizsla and imagine if that was him or her pining away, abandoned in a kennel, alone and in strange surroundings. Wouldn’t you like it if they had the best they could get from these Vizsla rescue shelters?

And think about what would happen to all the dogs if one of the Vizsla shelter closed down? This may not be of any concern to you and there is not much you can do about this situation, but what you can do is support these rescue groups. Nothing is sadder than watching a previously well adjusted Vizsla lying in one of the many Vizsla shelters.

And if there is nothing you can do to help these groups monetarily, then the least you can do is point someone looking for a Vizsla to one of these Vizsla shelters. This way you can help more and more abandoned Vizsla’s get new homes and owners.
