Evram Mintz, Jen Crane, Steve Wassenfelder, Ted Shaw, Maddux Donner, Nadia Schilling, Paula Morales and Zoe Barnes play the role of the astronauts on board Antares while Arnel Poe, Trevor Williams, Ajay Sharma, Claire Derux, Eve Weller Shaw, Mike Goss and Rollie Crane have played the earth characters and Jeff Walker and Sharon Lewis have played the role of people on Mars in the science fiction series. These actors have played the roles of the various characters on the show quite well.

From August 2, 2009 to October 23, 2009 the show had a run after which it was cancelled. Defying Gravity got one nomination so far for VES award in the category of outstanding visual effects in a broadcast series in 2010.

In Defying Gravity, the crew members are being monitored on earth as they go on their thirteen billion kilometers journey.
