Nowadays the growing popularity of print-on-demand technology has made it possible for professional writers to publish literature without expensive upfront fees or a garage filled of unsold books. POD providers allow them to pay through commissions per sold copies. One has to simply join their community, upload a manuscript and cover design and decide on the price to have their masterpieces published within 10 days. However one must be prepared to engage in marketing with this option. One cannot expect the providers to address these factors.
