Amish Tripathi is an Indian novelist whose debut series, The Shiva Trilogy of books, have broken all records and gone on to become a huge success in the country. The Immortals of Meluha, released in mid 2010, was the first book in this hugely successful trilogy.
The Secret of the Nagas, the second part of the series, will be released in the middle of August 2011and is widely tipped to be a best-seller following its release. The third book in the series is called The Oath of the Vayuputras and will be published in 2012 as the author is currently working on the same.
This tale of epic adventure takes place in the ancient world of Meluha, also known as the Indus Valley of old. It is here that we are introduced to Shiva, a tribal warrior chief who learns that destiny has a bigger role for him during his travels to Meluha. We are also introduced to the two clans of Suryavanshis and Chandravanshis who are at loggerheads with each other.
The Immortals of Meluha is the first part in the Shiva Trilogy and introduces us to all the main characters of the book. In this first part, Shiva travels to the ancient land of Meluha and discovers that he is the one chosen by the Gods to bring peace upon this land by helping the Suryavanshis defeat the Chandravanshis.
During his time in Meluha, Shiva encounters the warrior Naga tribe who seem all evil and also falls in love with the beautiful Meluhan princess Sati.
Due to its unique plot and the innovative blending of history and mythology, The Immortals of Meluha, first published in 2010, went on to become a huge success. The author also created a lot of buzz around the launch of the book due to some smart marketing tactics. The book had a very catchy cover and the author also released a small trailer film around the book which went viral all over the internet.
The second book in the series is The Secret of the Nagas and the plot of this one will take off where the Immortals of Meluha ended. Due to release in August 2011, this book is expected to become a huge hit from day one itself. Currently the book is not available at retail stores but can be ordered through some of the online retailers in India like Flipkart.
