Behavioral Analysis Unit is based in Quantico, Virgina and it uses profiling technique, psychological analysis and victimology to track the criminal and crack the case.

The team of the Behavioral Analysis Unit in the criminal minds has one FBI unit chief, one SSA Media Liaison, four supervisory special agents and a technician. Derek Morgan played the role of the unit chief in the fifth season of Criminal Minds while in all the remaining seasons including the sixth season( expected) the role was played by Thomas Gibbson. A.J. Cooke, Shemar Moore, Paget Brewster, Joe Mantegna, Lola Glaudini, Mandy Patinkin, and Matthew Gray Gubler make up the other members of the cast.
