The CSI TV show can certainly claim credit for the through-the-roof ratings that CBS earned after it started airing this incredibly interesting series that can only be described as a mix of crime with a generous serving of drama. CSI: Crime Screen Investigation or CSI: Las Vegas, as it’s also known first premiered on CBS close to a decade ago, on the 6th of October, 2000. Produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, the show was the result of Anthony E. Zuiker’s creativity and was shot primarily at California’s Universal Studios.

The series thrive on suspense and intrigue created by shocking murders and the miniscule clue the crime perpetrators leave behind. The episodes follow the criminologists in their search to unravel the mysteries based the evidence found at the crime scene and are known to be remarkably graphic in nature. Though criticized vehemently by law enforcers, the show has gained massive popularity with the masses, keeping it at the top of the ratings heap and ensuring a steady viewership.

In fact, the series went on to gain the distinction of being the most viewed show in the year 2002 allowing CBS to come up with spin-off like CSI: Miami and CSI: NY that keep viewers glued to their seats for the 90 minute duration of each episode.

The cast of the forensics team form the main characters in the series, currently led by Dr. Ray Langston (played by Laurence Fishburne) and Catherine Willows the supervisor of the night shift (essayed by Marg Helgenberger) both of whom are Level 2 and Level 3 csis. As seen, many of the main characters have changed during the course of the ten seasons that have been aired.

Many star actors have performed in CSI like Kate Walsh, Dakota Fanning, Stephen Baldwin, Chad Michael Murrey, Kelly Rowen, Stacey Dash and Faye Dunaway. In an episode of seventh season named “Fannysmackin” Kevin Federline played a role of a gangster called “Pig”. A role of Haley Jones in the episode of ninth session named “Turn Turn Turn “was played by singer Taylor Swift.

Generally a season used to be 23 to 25 episodes long except the season 8 of only 17 episodes. An episode of CSI was watched by as huge as 35 million people which was shown on 19th May 2005 and the director of the episode was Quentin Tarantino. Till today CBS has telecasted 206 episodes of CSI. When the number of episodes is so large then it is rare that one has watched all the episodes. But people who have missed some or all the episodes at that time can watch them again.
