The book opens with a regular Christie character Captain Hastings visiting Hercule Poirot to find that he is making preparations for a trip to the USA. Poirot has been offered a large sum of money by an American to travel there and he asks Hastings if he knows anything of the “Big Four”.
They are visited before Poirot departs by a character who tells them of the “Big Four” that one of the members is a Chinese mastermind, another a supposed American, a French femme fatale and the final member is known as the “destroyer”. Hastings and Poirot pretend to depart for their trip, but return to the apartment to find the man dead. This naturally prompts Poirot into investigative action.
The books takes the reader on the classic Christie roller coaster of plot twists and turns. It also features a cameo by Poirot’s twin brother before the story resolves itself in a manner entirely satisfying to the reader.

In The Lightening Thief, Percy Jackson, the hero, discovers he’s a “half-blood”, or someone that is half god and half mortal. His mother is a New Yorker who works in a candy shop and he’s always assumed his dad was dead. Later, through a series of dangerous events, he discovers that his father is alive and is Poseidon, the god of the sea. Suddenly, everything he’s ever known about the world is turned upside down as Percy realizes the mythological creatures and gods are real and exist even in the modern world.
This fresh spin on ancient mythology has a way of captivating the audience. The Lightening Thief will have readers plowing through the book at the most obscure of times, unable to put it down. The way Riordan combines modern day America and monsters is a true masterpiece.
One of the most fascinating parts of this book is the tone used. Because a Percy is only twelve-years-old, everything has a very light and humorous spin on it. Even the most gripping scenes will have humorous parts that could only be brought to light from the perspective of a boy.
While the Percy Jackson series are a bit long, they are by far worth starting. Riordan’s stunning plot and original ideas are refreshing. Free New Diary Of A Wimpy Kid Movies

This is one movie that you should not miss. Diary of a Wimpy Kid is a tale of your average kid with not so average dreams. Its tag line says it all “I’ll be famous one day, but for now I’m stuck in middle school with a bunch of morons”. This is kid’s movie which has almost everything for the audience, right from small kids to grownups. The comedy is in adequate dose and for the philosophers this movie imparts a lot of morale teaching too.
The movie draws its inspiration from the hugely popular book “The diary of the wimpy kid” by Jeff Kinney. Having read the book I can safely say that the movie has retained all the exciting and comic parts of the book and the story line does drifts more that necessary. The characters are exactly like in the book and they all have been created the way they should have been.
The story revolves around Greg Heffley (excellently portrayed by Zachary Gordon); he is normal looking average school kid who is starting with middle school. Once he is in the class he makes a promise to himself that he will break his nerdy image and will become the most popular guy in his class, so that girls will start liking him. He lives with his family that consists of father, mother and a very insane elder brother who keeps him in check with his numerous pranks.
Rowley and Heffley have been friends since children but when they arrive in middle school Rowley decides to avoid Heffley to gain social status. On the other hand Rowley is unaware of such a situation and he is quite happy with the things around him.
A major twist in the story comes when a comic made by Rowley becomes hit in the school while Heffley’s is sent to the sidelines. This leads to jealously and their friendship breaks. To show each other that they don’t need the friendship to live they make new friends and start pretending that life is good. But eventually the bubble bursts and both realize their error in ways.
Both the lead actors in the diary of the wimpy kid have performed exceptionally well. And more so their chemistry is spot on. They have defined the friendship between Heffley and Rowley very nicely. Their minor squabbles and fights have been enacted to perfection. As a result the effect is quite visible and it supplements the story of the movie greatly.
Overall this movie is pure unadulterated fun. The story is fresh and for the first time any movie deals with rigors of a middle schooled kid. It is highly recommended for movie goers of all ages and especially kids.

Once the readers think they’ve finally figured out Westerfeld and his crazy plot twists, he throws a curve ball. In the second book, Pretties, the heroine Tally Youngblood has turned into her enemy, a “Pretty”, or a human that’s undergone extreme cosmetic surgery to become perfect. Throughout the book, Tally slowly accepts her new way of life while at the same time fighting it. Since she is pretty herself, her new enemies are become the “Specials”, or the ones controlling everything that takes place in the pretty cities. In Specials, the unthinkable happens. Tally is kidnapped and turned into her new enemy, a special.
As in the second book, Specials, Tally changes. She sees things in a different perspective. Now, despite having just been a pretty, she sees pretties as stupid, brainless people that only care about frivolous activities and games. She’s smarter, more in tune with nature, her senses are sharper, and her body is reinforced and strengthened to inhuman-like proportions.
At the end of Specials, the reader is left with a feeling of completion and wonder. The way everything ties together, the way Tally must fight against her internal programming, and most importantly, the way she sees others, changes. This book shows humanity through three different pairs of eyes and yet the same person. Specials reveals deep things about humanity while keeping the reader engaged and hungrily turning the pages for more.
As the trilogy is brought to a close, Westerfeld pulls unlikely friends together, and shows that hope is still present in humanity despite the worst circumstances.
