Considering the number of female action directors in the United States, it was not really a surprise that Kathryn Bigelow was referred to as the best female in this business. After her first two movies in the 90’s, “Point break” and “Strange days”, this title had become her second name. Directing the Hurt Locker has done nothing but renewed the glory of the title bestowed on her. She has put in her years of experience into making this film what it is today.

The movie is based on Iranian war. No it is not about politics or any bad politician; it is actually based on the American living in Iran. It could have easily been shot at any other location as well. The film tries to show the daily feelings that an American living there goes through, It is not longer about why are they there or how are they going to leave. It’s a new side to their story. The story also tries very hard to high light the fact that the cost of living is ever increasing and hence living in such a country may be a very difficult task for anyone.

The one aspect that is appreciated about this movie is that it is to the point. It does not run round and round the bush. It introduces all the characters in the first scene itself. They are supposed to be part of a team that is called on for disposing bombs. They are part of a company that is names Brave. These characters are thorough professionals in what they do and have been trained on various explosive devices. The team is trying to dispose a bomb in the first scene of the movie. The team has quite a few members including Sgt. Thomspson (Guy Pearce) as the head, Sanborn (Anthony Mackie) as the vigilant one and Elderidge (Brian Geraghty) as the new member on the team. This scene somehow depicts the entire movie’s story line.

Later in the movie Sgt. James takes the place of Sgt. Thompson and suddenly Sgt. Thompson looks nothing but a scared and nervous person. On the flip side Sgt. James throws caution to the wind and implements his own standards of safety that he had learnt through his experience. Sanborn and Elderidge succumb to his attitude.

The movie keep moving forward based on a number of situations that take pace. Al these scenes are more or less based on the first scene that was shown. The main objective of the movie as the movie precedes you will see is to know what is going on inside Sgt. James’s head.

The encounters in the movie are built in a very episodic manner. The best part about this is that the suspense is still maintained. Bigelow’s idea to use hand held camera’s to produce gritty scenes worked extremely well. The end is a bit unsatisfactory. The way the story was built up becomes it weakness and then the end that was chosen just seems dull and lifeless. Ending the movie with two speeches was not such a good idea after all.

Maybe not all people have ever heard about process continuous improvement. Because this words is seldom enough to be found in newspaper and all audio visual media. Fortunately for man who are working or maybe have ever worked in factory they must be used to with term of process continuous improvement. Because this word has always in purrs to give breathe life spirit into the employees so they can give the best effort. Process continuous improvement is kaizen.

So what is Kaizen or Process Continuous Improvement means? Many technical book outside define those word. I will resume shortly. Every effort to enhance from current condition to better condition is kaizen or Process Continuous Improvement. Why should we do that? Because our responsibility to give the best value of our product to the customer. If we lazy to do kaizen or Process Continuous Improvement then we will leave behind by our competitor. Means we have no business. So whatever our condition. Kaizen is a must to keep our business survive.

From the book which I read from Maasaki Imai I have obtained some interesting fact about Process continuous improvement or the kaizen. The fact is in Japan public, kaizen term or Process continuous improvement is common word to be told in daily life. All TV and newspaper many times mentioning these words in everyday context including governmental functionary. So obviously if kaizen or process improvement became a real very strong culture or habits in Japan. What if there is no standard of current process? Simply, just find good condition at the process and make it as standard. So we can start from that point.

Why we should do standardization before doing kaizen or process continuous improvement? It is a simple. We can not measure the kaizen or process continuous improvement achievement whether success or not. For example. I have standardized that we need sixth movement to cleaning product properly. So if we have 100 products that we should do 600 movements. So if we can reduce man movement from 6 movements per product become 4 movements per product without reduce in quality then we have succeeded do kaizen or process continuous improvement of man movements. But if we did not specify standard how many man movements to clean the product then we don’t know whether 4 man movements are succeeded or not.

Roald Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory have been well adapted into a movie by the same name by the competent director Tim Burton. The movie is targeted towards the kids and the young adults but is well watched by the adults too. Freddie Highmore stars as Charlie Bucket while Johnny Depp is Willy Wonka in the movie.

Charlie belongs to a poor family that includes his father, mother and four grandparents who are fully bed ridden. The family members have profound love for each other but the much needed money was missing. The town had a chocolate factory owned by the freakish Willy Wonka. One fine day Willy announces that he has carefully hidden five golden tickets inside the Wonka bars. Those who get it will tour the chocolate factory and there will be a special prize for one lucky winner to be declared at the end.

Charlie was lucky. He found one of the golden tickets. So Charlie, the four other winners and Grandpa Joe began the tour of the chocolate factory. It was an unforgettable experience. There were many inventions of Willy on display. One of those was a chocolate river and they used a boat to travel on the river full of chocolate!

The factory is not a run – of – the mill one as it has a waterfall acting as chocolate mixers and a chocolate river by which the group tours the factory by boat. They also see some of the inventions of Willy such as Wonkavator which actually takes you to any part of the factory at the touch of a button. The experience is truly unique. They also met the Oompa – Loompa tribes who help in the running of the factory and get paid by chocolate beans. The factory was a real wonder for the children and Joe as they found everything in the factory is edible including trees and grass. They also encounter specially trained squirrels who shell nuts to be used in the chocolate bars.

The film is a big hit with the children. After a long time the children has some good movie to look forward to. We can safely say that despite the insipid performance by Johnny Depp the film manages to set the cash registers ringing. Depp should have given a much better performance but he looks totally disinterested for the better part of the movie.

Freddie Highmore justifies his selection as Charlie Bucket. In fact, all the other actors do reasonably well. David Kelly as Grandpa Joe is really good and blends with the children inside the factory and all other scenes.

In spite of all the shortcomings the movie is still worth a watch. You cannot ignore Charlie’s loyalty towards his family when he refuses the keys given by Willy. He does so because he wanted a good life not only for himself but for the whole family. The film is well appreciated by children and adults alike.
